UCHS Band Aide Club Minutes
March 31st 2009
President Andy Fowler called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm. Maxine Craft lead the club in prayer. Stacy Gibson read the minutes from the previous meeting. Karen Greer made a motion to accept the minutes and Maxine Craft gave a second. They were approved as read.
In the absence of Susan Adams no treasury report was given.
President Andy Fowler reminded the club of the Band Review for the 6th, 7th, 8th grades as well as the orchestra to be held on April 16th at 7:00 pm. UCHS, Indoor Percussion and the Winter Guard will be held on the 17th at 7:00 pm.
The group decided to pursue the sale of hotdog plates on both nights. Plates will include one hotdog, slaw, chips, and can drink for a cost of $3.00 per plate. We are also calling band moms to donate baked goods to be sold at an additional cost these two nights. We will begin selling plates at 5:00 pm each night.
Mr. Wilkes informed the group that he is looking into a day trip for the seniors and this would probably be opened up to the entire band. He will let us know the details at a later date.
The band banquet is set for May 5th. Midway BBQ will cater our meal, which will start at 6:00pm with a cost of $8.00 per plate for adults and students. The awards will begin at 7:00 pm. Karen Greer and Stacy Gibson will decorate for this event. Anyone interested in helping please be at the school at 1:00 pm on the 28th. Stacy Gibson will work with the juniors to get flowers for our senior’s.
Anyone interested in being a band aide club officer for the upcoming year please call Mr. Wilkes.
Randall Burns brought up the Indoor Percussion and Winter Guard groups. He expressed concern of them being gone all day on Saturday Competition’s and asked that the BAC support them with lunch on these days. Julie Fowler suggested for the group to call the parents and make sandwiches, have chips and Little Debbie’s like with marching band. Andy asked Mr. Burns to bring this up next year just before the season so that it was not forgotten.
Mr. Wilkes expressed excitement in next years program with lots of changes taking place. There will be an after school 5th block from 4-6pm on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s 11th and 12th graders can earn honor’s credits for these classes. Spring Concert Band for 9th and 10th will receive regular credit and the 11th and 12th will receive honors credits.
We will have a BAC meeting the week of Rookie Camp May 14th. The executive meeting starts at 6:00 pm and 7:00pm for General Business meeting. There will be an ice cream social on this night.
With no further business the meeting adjourned.
Respectfully Submitted,
Stacy Gibson
